Sensory Integration Therapy in Islamabad
Helping children regulate touch, sound and movement
At N.E.S.T in DHA Phase 2, Sector G, we help children ages 2-20 who are over- or under-responsive to sensory input feel calmer, more focused and better able to take part in daily life, school and social situations.

What Is Sensory Integration Therapy?
Sensory integration therapy helps children whose brains have trouble organizing and responding to everyday sensory input, touch, sound, movement, textures, light and smell. Some children are over-responsive and become overwhelmed by things that seem ordinary to others, such as tags in clothing, loud rooms or being touched unexpectedly. Others are under-responsive and seek out intense movement, crashing, spinning or deep pressure to feel regulated. At N.E.S.T, sensory integration therapy is most often delivered within our occupational therapy program for children with autism, ADHD, sensory processing differences or anxiety around certain textures, sounds or crowded spaces, using purposeful, play-based activities that help the nervous system respond more comfortably.

Who It's For & What a Session Looks Like
Families in Islamabad often come to N.E.S.T when a child covers their ears at normal sounds, avoids or constantly seeks out touch, melts down in crowded or noisy places, struggles with certain clothing or food textures, seems unusually clumsy, or craves constant spinning, jumping and crashing. Sensory integration therapy also supports children with autism, ADHD and anxiety whose sensory regulation makes it harder to sit still, focus or cope with change. A sensory assessment helps us build a plan around your child's specific sensory profile.
Our Approach & What a Session Looks Like
Sessions usually last 45-60 minutes and take place in a dedicated sensory gym using swings, crash mats, textured play materials, brushing protocols and purposeful movement activities chosen for your child. It looks like play, but every activity is selected to help your child's nervous system respond more calmly to touch, sound and movement over time. Parents are coached to continue simple regulation strategies at home, and we share regular progress updates.

How Sensory Integration Fits Into Your Child's Wider Plan
Sensory regulation underlies a child's ability to engage with almost everything else, sitting in a classroom, following instructions, learning to speak, and managing behavior. That is why sensory integration therapy at N.E.S.T is never delivered in isolation. Our occupational therapists coordinate closely with our special educators, ABA therapists and speech-language pathologists, so a child who is overwhelmed by noise or touch gets support regulated before (and during) their academic, behavioral and communication work, rather than fighting through sensory overload in every session. Families usually see sensory strategies carried across their child's whole day at N.E.S.T, not just inside the sensory gym.
